So what do you do after a long walk? Colin likes to sleep.

Colin is SOLID

Jane was so kind to me to wait until I was able to film this event.  It is a bit long but if your a grandparent (which is the intended audience here) every bit of these uncut 16 minutes is gold.

Special thanks to Susan Taylor today.  Any future pictures you see from E3 are the direct result of her taking care of Colin for me.

Oh and happy last day of school to James Taylor and congrats on your straight "A" finals.  Wow!

P.S.  Yet again the password is my middle name uncapitalized.

Reconciling childhood dreams

Today I find myself at Universal Studios Citywalk which is about ten
minutes from the house. I hadn't been here since college and the
memories just came flooding back. The summer film class that had us
watching a movie a day and we ended up seeing "the mummy returns" two
or three times. Hanging out with the drama group daring people in the
group to faux propose to random strangers or doing the tourist thing
with my sister and getting a wax hand made. I was too chicken but my
sister Faith said it didn't hurt too much.

While these are fun memories I do have one BIG sad memory. After a
year or two my favorite TV show of my teens "Sliders" moved to LA from
Canada. It's viewership had shrink and they moved it to sci-fi which
didn't have as much money but need something to fill a timeslot. Over
a three year timespan I watched lessening production values and a
reliance on universal studios as they ripped off the storylines of
better films. I was angry bit still took pride in identifying which
parts of universal backlot or citywalk that they used, it was the last
entertaining thing to do while watching.

This let down prepared me to not invest all of myself into fictional
worlds that I had taken so much delight in. There are much better
things to invest in. My hope is I can teach him this before he is
heart broken by a show like "Jonas Brothers IN SPACE"

Memorial Day Bash

So between the diaper changes, the cries for help, and the traffic on the 405 a video like this is made. Strangely enough it came together quickly and makes me smile every time I watch it. Colin has been growing so fast we have to take pictures just to try and capture how quick he is changing.

We ended up buying a new car which seems really odd to me because the last thing I want to do is have a monthly car payment. But hey it's a "unique" technology (diesel) that gets awesome gas mileage and most importantly it actually fits me! YAY! I mean if you look at it from the perspective of reconstructing my knees in a few years because we didn't get a car that fit a new car is a great bargain. :-)

Much of our day to day activity has been either working, taking care of Colin, or sleeping. While these are noble things I desire to do more so short of putting a mop in Colins developing hands I've got to work out a sling or something so that Colin can join in the fun. As you can see in this video he already is getting good at rolling around. :-)

As always with videos with my son in them the password is Daniel McCurleys middle name without capitalization. If another password would work well let me know in the comments (but try to hint at what the password would be, don't actually write it).

29 point parallel park

Yes it was awesome and yes I didn't scratch a single car.
